Celebrities raise S$13.2k for charity

CELEBRITIES Li Nanxing and Christopher Lee cooked up a storm at Taste Butchery & Seafood Factory Outlet on Wednesday and raised S$13,200 for charity.

From the total amount raised, 50 per cent went to The Business Times Budding Artists Fund that seeks to make the arts accessible for children and youths from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, and another 50 per cent to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund that supports 10,000 students from low-income families.

Li whipped up his mum's favourites beef and chicken rendang while Lee cooked his wife's favourite braised pork and pan-fried prawns.

The event boasted a star-studded wait staff including Fann Wong, Constance Song, Julie Tan and Wei Le.

Li's Mum's Favourite Beef and Chicken Rendang, and Lee's braised pork, are available for pre-order purchase exclusively at Taste Butchery & Seafood Factory Outlet. Five per cent of sales will continue to go to both charities equally.

Both artistes said they can empathise with this group of people due to their disadvantaged childhood, which also spurred them to want to give back now.

At the launch, renowned radio DJ DongFang Billy Wang also shared a taste of his home-made Billy's Signature Lemonade.

He is also opening up an opportunity for guests to spend time with him at his Intimate Afternoon Tea With Billy from Oct 3-6, where guests get to try special dishes prepared by him.

Different recipes will be prepared across the four days, each available to only 60 pax per afternoon.

Five per cent from the proceeds also goes to charity.
