CIMB Bank Berhad, Singapore Branch (CIMB Bank) announced on Thursday (Feb 17) that it will be donating S$52,240 to the Family Service Centres (FSCs) supported by Community Chest.

The amount was raised from the bank's month-long "CIMB Cares Keep Fit" programme, launched on Nov 5.

The initiative was an extension of CIMB Bank's corporate social responsibility initiatives, and all 900 employees clocked a total of 4,760 hours of physical activity from walking, running or cycling.

A key thrust to the programme was to encourage employees to lead active lifestyles and, at the same time, provide support to the FSCs.

Victor Lee, CEO of CIMB Bank Singapore, said: "Family plays an important role in society's fabric of relationships, and if we can contribute in any way to keep families intact, fed and ensure they have the basic necessities, we are proud to do so,"

The hours that the staff clocked was tracked via the Strava application, and a dedicated microsite was set up by event organiser, Orange Room, to manage donations from bank employees and their family and friends, as well as to track their activity logs.

"I definitely miss taking part in larger CSR-led activities but this experience has taught me that I can still contribute to a meaningful cause virtually," said Ezra Peh, The Complete Banker Associate, CIMB Bank Singapore. "I was excited to go on regular evening jogs so I could keep fit and donate to a good cause at the same time."
