FROM silent auctions to real-time virtual tours, Citi Singapore's employees have carried out a wide range of socially-distanced fundraising activities to raise over S$150,000 for ChildAid, in support of The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BTBAF) and The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (STSPMF).

The sum will go towards helping thousands of financially disadvantaged children pay for lunch, take transport to and from school, and pursue different art forms for their personal development. The two funds have assisted some 180,000 children since their inception.

Eleven teams representing different departments and businesses across Citi Singapore set up their respective giving.sg campaign pages to rally their teams for donations in support of ChildAid. Their activities included health and wellness virtual workshops, online cooking classes, and performances on social media platform TikTok - all of which helped raise the impressive six-figure amount.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Citi Singapore's 8,500 employees have garnered more than S$100,000 in donations to support various charities. The initiative was part of Citi's 16th Global Community Day (GCD) campaign where employees, along with their families and friends, voluntarily serve their local communities across 90 countries and territories and nearly 500 cities where Citi has a presence.

Amol Gupte, Asean head and Citi country officer for Singapore, said: "At Citi we believe in making a difference for the long term and we are delighted to have supported STSPMF and BTBAF since 2002. We recognise the challenges brought upon by the ongoing pandemic and are committed to supporting our clients, staff and groups within our community who are most affected.

"It's precisely for that reason that we also returned the Jobs Support Scheme (JSS) funding to the Singapore Government, so that more of those in need can benefit."

Wong Wei Kong, editor of The Business Times, said: "We are touched by the unwavering spirit and generosity of Citi Singapore. Our beneficiaries need our help more than ever, and we are very grateful that Citi Singapore continues to be a staunch supporter of ChildAid."
