NOT too far in the past, I used to own something called the Pebble.
Borne out of crowdfunding and small-garage ingenuity, it was the world's first smartwatch to grace the wrists of thousands.
It delivered text notifications to my wrist, and allowed me to control music playback on my phone. Later, fitness tracking was added to its stable of features, which only endeared it even more to me.
