Mooncake cheer this Mid-Autumn Festival

WITH the rising number of Covid-19 community cases in Singapore and having to observe additional infection control measures, it has been an exhausting journey for frontline healthcare workers, said senior staff nurse Thiruchelvi d/o Tangamuthu of Home Nursing Foundation.

To bring some cheer, integrated financial services provider Summit Planners organised a virtual mooncake-making session with social enterprise Food Playground for 50 healthcare professionals from the foundation in conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival.

"The impact of the pandemic unfolds around us daily and among the most affected are our healthcare heroes," Stephen Chew, principal consultant of Summit Planners.

"Giving back is an important value we seek to uphold, and with this curated session, I hope to shine a little light on the mental well-being of our healthcare professionals so they can find strength to keep fighting on the frontlines."

Christina Tiong, chief executive officer of Home Nursing Foundation, said that besides bringing cheer to the nurses, "it is also encouraging to know that these mooncake kits are sourced from a local social enterprise that empowers stay-at-home mothers and active seniors".

Ms Thiruchelvi added that what made it extra special was that she got to "meet" some colleagues, including some she has not seen in the past 18 months due to split-team arrangements.
