New Singapore record in the bag
Singapore
ONE thousand three hundred and twenty-four.
That's the magic number that helped Yu Neng Primary School in Bedok North bag a new Singapore record for the "Most Number of People Decorating Tote Bags Together".
As part of the Pay-it-Forward project, Yu Neng's entire school community of pupils, parents and volunteers - making up a total of 1,324 - got together on Friday to sew owl motifs on eco-friendly tote bags.
Also there to lend a hand were The Straits Times news editor and co-chairman for ChildAid 2017 Marc Lim, chairman of The Business Times Budding Artists Fund and managing editor of English/Malay/Tamil Media group (EMTM) at Singapore Press Holdings Alvin Tay, general manager of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund Tan Bee Heong, board director of The RICE Company Limited Colin Goh and director of The RICE Company Limited Tan Tee Tong.
The project is a collaborative effort with non-profit organisation The RICE Company Limited to raise funds for ChildAid, an annual charity concert in aid of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund. The bags will be made available at ChildAid and Timbre+ for a minimum donation of S$10.
