IT takes about 10 years for a Christmas tree to grow from a seed to 2 metres high. This may explain why some prefer artificial trees as part of the green movement.

An idea by the National Library staff to bring festive cheer to visitors and promote the joy of reading at the same time has sprouted a one-of-a-kind 3.6-m Christmas tree.
