Sensual sound from B&O's new head-huggers
Luxury meets great sound in the new Bang & Olufsen's Beoplay H9 headphones. But can they dethrone the reigning king of premium noise cancellation?
BANG & OLUFSEN's latest flagship Beoplay H9 (2019) headphones should be nearly at the top of your shopping list if you're looking for a good pair of noise-cancelling (NC) headphones. I say "nearly", because its S$760 asking price is steep when its closest rivals are being hawked for S$300 or even $400 less. That doesn't mean it's not worth your money. The H9 is the most substantial and well-built pair of headphones I've seen.
The "Argilla Bright" colour elevates the headphones to a more premium level and it goes well with the luxuriant materials used in construction.
Build quality is a class above the competition. Like before, the headband has an aluminium skeleton wrapped with stitched cowhide leather on top. The part of the band that touches your head is cloth filled with squishy foam, an upgrade from the earlier 2017 model.
