Aussie BBQs, art to celebrate ties, SG50
Singapore
IF anyone knows anything about barbecues, it's the Australians, jokes Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop. And that's why the Australian High Commission in Singapore is planning to hold 50 BBQs by 500 Australians and their friends to offer a meal of Aussie steak to anyone who happens to be hungry.
The BBQs will take place on one night in June in the heartlands of Singapore to reach out to ordinary people. Ms Bishop says it's a gesture of friendship from the Australian people to the people of Singapore, to mark 50 years of bilateral ties as well as to celebrate Singapore's 50th birthday.
