Steve Lai wins S$56K watch for BT Corp Golf hole-in-one
Singapore
AFTER 27 years of playing golf, Steve Lai finally got his first hole-in-one during the second round of the The Business Times Corporate Golf League 2015 on Wednesday. A member of The Crane Boomers (Tat Hong) team, the 14-handicapper aced the 150m 8th hole of Raffles Country Club's Lake Course using his 6-iron and a TaylorMade Tour Preferred X golf ball. The feat won him a S$56,000 Audemars Piguet Millenary 4101 Watch, sponsored by Audemars Piguet.
Dr Lai, a scientist by training and former CEO of PSB Academy, said: "I was aiming left of the pin but it went slightly right of the pin and I thought it was going to go into the bunker. The ball hit the side of the bunker, bounced up, hit the pin and rolled in. But I didn't see it going in. The other two guys were jumping up and down and saying it had gone in, but I thought it went past the hole and down the hill. I had no reaction until I saw the ball in the hole."
