The magic of misheard lyrics

Mondegreens are deliciously funny, especially because they tend to be belted out with much gusto - as if they were legit all along

MY husband and father share a rare talent: the knack for mishearing (and royally mangling) lyrics.

Take, for example, the Swedish House Mafia song, which goes: "Don't you worry, don't you worry child / See heaven's got a plan for you". My husband has always thought it was: "Don't you worry, don't you worry child / Sierra's got a plan for you". His defence? "I thought the song was by some guy called DJ Sierra."

When I laughed him out of town and Googled the lyrics to prove that his version was completely off, I ended up discovering that he's not the only one to err on this. In fact, the song is so frequently mis-sung that when one types "Sierra's got" in Google, the search auto-completes with "a plan for you". Of course, the man felt suitably vindicated.
