Twombly blackboard painting up for auction
New York
A CY Twombly painting depicting rows of chalky loops on gray surface may fetch more than US$60 million in New York in November.
Sotheby's scored the 1968 canvas from the Los Angeles-based collector Audrey Irmas for its evening sale of contemporary art on Nov 11, the auction house said in a statement on Tuesday. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Audrey Irmas Foundation for Social Justice, with US$30 million earmarked for the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Sotheby's said.
