VOLVO'S S60 Recharge is basically two cars in one. Like other plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), it's a conventional petrol car when you need range and convenient access to energy, and an electric one for whenever you're thinking about the good of lungs everywhere, both planetary and human.
The electric option gets its power from a lithium-ion battery pack. It sits in the car's central tunnel and takes up enough room that your middle rear passenger should avoid wearing a kilt. The upside is that it lets the Volvo cruise for up to 35km without using any petrol.
