Why you should be glad Audi's E-Tron isn't a Tesla killer
Audi's first electric car, the E-Tron, suggests the electric car revolution will be a gradual surge rather than a bolt from the blue
YOU probably don't remember your first Internet-capable phone (WAP anyone?), but you surely remember your first proper smartphone? For many, that would have been the 2007 Apple iPhone, which simply did what it promised: it put the Internet in your hand.
Likewise, the Audi E-Tron may not be Singapore's first taste of a car that runs on flowing electrons alone, but it is the device that has made me think, "Yes, this electric car thing could actually work in Singapore every day."
To get the imaginary bugbear out of the way first: Range anxiety just doesn't exist when driving the E-Tron, unless you set the navigation to your favourite hokkien mee place in Kuala Lumpur.
