Youth golf gets timely S$240k boost
A CAMERA worth S$900 was sold for double that amount, while a Chinese calligraphy scroll was auctioned for S$3,000 with another benefactor making a donation of the same amount during its auction.
Those were not the only philanthropic acts on a day when promoting youth golf was essentially the theme of the 2017 Community Youth Golf Charity at Sentosa Golf Club Community on Wednesday.
During the golf game, which attracted almost 100 players, and at the dinner, the sponsors and supporters' generosity meant that the charity - spearheaded by Janice Khoo - raised nearly S$240,000. Dr Khoo, who was among the pioneers who started the charity 20 years ago at Laguna National Golf and Country Club, said that the money raised will go towards the promotion of junior golf in the heartlands for more than 150 teenagers.
