ON Aug 7, two nights before Singapore officially turns 50, the National Stadium will blaze more brightly than it ever has since it reopened last year. A constellation of music stars will descend upon the stage and scorch the path through 50 years of Singapore music.
Dick Lee, Jeremy Monteiro, Jacintha Abisheganaden, Ramli Sarip, Liang Wern Fook, Rahimah Rahim, Najip Ali, Douglas Olivero, Mohamed Raffee and other trailblazing veterans of the Singapore music scene will light up the stage, together with rising young stars such as Melissa Tham, Shigga Shay and Wil Tay.
Pioneering musicians from the 1960s such as Vernon Cornelius and Jeffrydin are also returning to the limelight to celebrate the music and songs that once captured the heart and minds of the nation.
