A new age for office market?

Published Thu, May 13, 2021 · 09:50 PM

WHEN offices emptied out as businesses moved to remote working as a default over the year, market forecasters wondered if this would spell the end of offices, and a grim future for office space owners. Yet latest data on Singapore offices shows that rents here, which no doubt slipped last year, have started to recover.

Nevertheless, there is a significantly higher-than-normal volume of space that businesses are looking to let go. Many banks have already said their needs have changed. In Brunch this Saturday in The Business Times Weekend, we speak to real estate consultants and occupiers to find out the state of the office market.

Simon Paris, CEO of fintech Finastra, firmly believes banking can be a force for good. He tells us why, in The Raffles Conversation.

In the Wealth & Investing section, our This Time Is Different column explains how your personal investing philosophy could lead to an unwelcome outcome - repeating your investment mistakes forever.

And in Fine Print, our reviewer takes up the very frankly titled "The Book About Getting Older (for People Who Don't Want to Talk About It)".

If that makes you feel like you need a drink, check out Barfly's latest find - a new rooftop bar where tea adds a distinct, finishing touch to signature cocktails.
