KAROLINA Pliskova was probably just being humble when she described her impressive straight sets win over Venus Williams on Sunday as being tougher than it seemed.
"The scoreline (6-2, 6-2) makes it look easier than it was," said the 25-year-old Czech star after notching her first victory at the season-ending BNP Paribas Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Finals presented by SC Global tournament. "There are no easy matches in Singapore, so you have to be ready from the first point," she said after the one-sided 72-minute match on centre court at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
