WITH the gentrification of old neighbourhoods reaching saturation point, it's only a matter of time that the hipster side of Singapore needed to find itself a new home.

The spillover can already be seen in homegrown festivals put together by individuals who are eager to share and showcase everything cool and trendy in music, retail, art, food and more - sometimes all in a single event - to the public.

"Singaporeans are bored with shopping malls and these kinds of events offer something different," explains Lu Yawen, from The Local People, which is curating the market component of the Singapore Art Museum's Night Festival.
