THE end of the harvest season is as good a cause for celebration as any in Burgundy. In fact, Mersault (a quaint little town in the region) is known to take it so seriously that its annual celebrations have become world renowned. La Paulee de Mersault typically spans three days - known as Les Trois Glorieuses - of drinking and feasting among Burgundian winegrowers and their guests.
Bighearted wine lovers here can soon take part in the merrymaking, too, when the French fete manifests as the Paulee de Singapour next month.
To be held from Jan 24 to 26 at the Capella Hotel Singapore, the local homage to the Burgundian festival will have its own trois glorieuses. The festivities will kick off with a gala wine dinner and auction on the first day, where celebrity guest chefs Tetsuya Wakuda, Nam Quoc Nguyen, Beppe de Vito, Capella Hotel's David Senia and Chek Yong Sam, and event co-organiser Melina Yong will cook for over 360 guests with Ho Ching as the guest-of-honour.
