Andy Lau shows no sign of stopping on stage

Despite turning 63 recently, the still youthful-looking Hong Kong mega-star displayed good stamina and performed more songs than he did in 2019

THE opening night of Andy Lau’s concert in Singapore on Thursday (Oct 10) was a whirlwind of nostalgia, music, and a dash of nail-biting suspense – thanks to his recent habit of treating the stage like a high-stakes action movie set. There was an audible gasp when the Cantopop legend and Hong Kong cinema superstar slid across an unbarricaded platform on his knees near the end of his 2022 hit, Practice.

After performing over 40 dates on his current Today… Is The Day tour, this time he braked well before reaching the edge. Thank goodness because just three months ago in Shanghai, he only managed to stop at the edge while performing the same stunt, narrowly averting a 4m plunge to the ground.

Other recent onstage incidents on this tour included a mishap in Shenzhen last month, where he injured his thumb after falling near a trapdoor that was accidentally left open.
