FAMOUS English sculptor Antony Gormley is showcasing four of his works in different parts of National Gallery Singapore, including a vast open matrix of metal rings that the visitor can walk through and interact with.

The first of these works is Close V (1988), a sculpted figure lying face down near the entrance of the museum. The work appears simple - funny, even - but it's made of cast iron, a material found in the earth's crust, and is a reflection of our inescapable relationship with gravity.

Elsewhere, another figure Ferment (2017) appears like a messy snarl of polygonal-shaped metal at first. But viewing it from different angles, one can make out a dematerialised figure in mid-motion.
