Summer Lotus Pond: Presented by famed Shandong painter Lu Dong, who is renowned for his lotus works, Summer Lotus Pond combines both vivid colours and detailed sketches. The exhibition features more than 35 paintings that portray a lotus pond during the four seasons.
Lu, who describes the lotus' image as almost perfect, chooses to return the lotus to its natural habitat in his works, highlighting the tranquillity of the pond's ecosystem. He views his works as performances; the pieces have both vibrant colours and mystical atmospheres. He has a personalised, distinctive way of painting the lotus, with a good balance of colour, composition and oriental details.
Lu uses mainly ink paint as his medium, and calls his work "not traditionally meticulous", but as spiritual and rich, and even contemporary.
