Art across the island
ART aficionados are in luck. From just two days, Singapore Gallery Weekend has now expanded to become Singapore Gallery Month. The inaugural islandwide event runs through September with 99 artists featured in more than 30 galleries, with star attractions including Yayoi Kusama’s solo at Ota Fine Arts, Ruben Pang’s solo at Richard Koh Fine Art and a group show of female artists from the South-east Asian diaspora at 39+ Art Space.
Even The Business Times is involved, with a special art tour + sake appreciation event, where BT readers are introduced to different sakes that respond to different artworks in different galleries in Gillman Barracks, with the artists in attendance to give them a personal tour of their shows. Elsewhere, several art collectors are opening up their beautiful homes and welcoming visitors to look at their art collections, all in the name of increasing art appreciation. Get all the details in Friday’s BT Lifestyle.
In the meantime, we speak to a bachelor who turned his apartment into a stylish hangout, and in Dining, we go in pursuit of heartfelt Japanese-Italian cooking at La D’Oro, which has pivoted from upscale omakase to wallet-friendly fare which hits the spot.
Read about this and more in Friday’s issue of BT.
