Art philanthropy in Singapore
IN RECENT years, foreign art philanthropists have been making their presence felt in Singapore.
From Frenchman Pierre Lorinet to Indian couple Vir and Simran Kotak, these collectors who now call Singapore home have been actively organising local art shows featuring priceless works by artists such as Ai Weiwei, Nam June Paik, Danh Vo, Shilpa Gupta and other blue-chip names.
What drives them to commit time, money and resources to these endeavours? Find out in Friday’s issue of BT Lifestyle, as we speak to these individuals who are raising the bar on art appreciation in Singapore.
In Design, we visit the home of Lim Wenhui, a partner in Spark Architects, a celebration of vivid technicolour. Glossy yellow, orange, blue, green are just some of the colours in her uniquely designed Bukit Timah apartment that is influenced by her cinematic eye and filled with energy and vibrancy.
