Art for under $3,000 at pop-up show
FOR former advertising executive Hoong Yun Peng, her new career as the organiser of pop-up art shows is a long time coming. Today marks the opening of Fun Art, the first of what she hopes to be a series of pop-up exhibitions featuring works by young artists which are priced affordably. For the inaugural show at Goodman Arts Centre, nearly all the works by eight artists from Singapore, China and Indonesia are priced below $3,000, with 75 per cent of the works priced below $2,000.
Ms Hoong has dreamt of a career in art since her 20s. Now 40, Ms Hoong quit her position as a group account director in Ogilvy Beijing a year ago to start Fun Art, which puns on the Chinese word "fan" to refer to a tasteful and stylish appearance.
If the inaugural show does well, Ms Hoong wants to stage a pop-up show every three months at different locations and featuring different artists.
