THE hotel art fair Art Apart returns to Parkroyal on Pickering this week. This time, it focuses on the Philippines, with more than 50 Filipino artists showing their works in several galleries. Most of the artists are not very well-known because the galleries want to give exposure to emerging artists such as Aleah Angeles, Reynard Borillo, JM Saycon and Dennis "Sio" Montera.
Besides them, some 100 artists from Japan, China, South Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore will also have their works in the fair.
An important highlight is a video showcasing the art collection of Singapore-based Argentinian architect Ernesto Bedmar. The architect has been in Singapore since 1984 and amassed many important works by local artists such as Henri Chen, Ketna Patel, Jimmy Ong, Vincent Leow and Jeremy Sharma.
Interested buyers can get a first glimpse of these works in the video at the fair and then register for the home viewing that will take place this October and next January at Mr Bedmar's home off Mount Pleasant Road. Only 300 people will be shortlisted for the home viewing, and most of the works have a reserve price of S$50,000 upwards.
