As contemporary art enclave Gillman Barracks enters its third year, the EDB is stepping up plans to turn the enclave into a destination in itself. BT talks to two young artists whose shows opened last week during Singapore Art Week.
THE Economic Development Boad has announced plans for a Request for Proposal for a new creative and art-related business development to design, build and manage up to 2,000 sq m of new space at the enclave.
Not-for-profit organisation Platform Projects has also launched the Lohia Mentorship Series, a public sculpture commission for a mid-career Singaporean artist to be mentored by acclaimed Indian artist Jitish Kallat for seven months. Meanwhile, the galleries there are providing a platform for exciting solo shows.
