Cheeky show where the audience get their kicks
YOU might say Eric Khoo's omnibus erotica In the Room is a bit of an orgy with no less than six sex stories to stoke the audience's flame.
The heavy breathing and the casting of real-life Japanese adult film star Show Nishino will make this a crowd-puller. But the work is also a departure from Khoo's usual arthouse outings and feels like his most accessible to date, thanks to a playful script by theatre practitioner Jonathan Lim and Andrew Hook.
Set in Room 27 of the fictional Singapura Hotel and spanning the decades, the interweaving storylines features the ghost of a rock star (first-time actor Ian Tan in a melancholic and haunting performance) who witnesses the secret trysts that take place within the four walls.
