Gillman Barracks has new lease of life

SINCE it reopened as a contemporary arts cluster two years ago, the former military camp Gillman Barracks has seen its share of flak from the public for being either too out of the way to attract any foot traffic, too exposed to the elements, or not having enough dining options.

But it seems that things are set to turn around with the promise of four more dining places, sheltered walkways, as well as the newly-relocated Yavuz gallery.

The four-year-old gallery, which moved from its previous location on Waterloo Street to join the arts cluster this September, will add on to a list of 16 international and local galleries, three eateries and an educational institution - The Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore (CCA).
