Melodic cadence of Murakami's words
IF anyone wanted to create soundtracks for books, Japanese writer Haruki Murakami's works would be the perfect fit.
The former jazz bar owner-turned-novelist is known to infuse his books with classical, jazz and American pop music - often naming his books after songs and having his characters reflect on the music they hear.
Listen to Haruki Murakami: Music Beyond Words then is simply a work waiting to be created. As the performance title indicates, this is a playlist of the songs in the author's books from Norwegian Wood to 1Q84, reimagined and performed to excerpts of texts from his books.
