Romantic comedy with an unusual premise
IF you're experiencing SG50 fatigue in local theatre, then the Singapore Repertory Theatre's (SRT) play in September will offer a pleasant counterpoint.
British play Hello, Goodbye has nothing to do with Singapore history. Instead, it's a good old romantic comedy, and the first play by Peter Souter, whose background is in writing for television and radio.
SRT artistic director Gaurav Kripalani had watched the show at Hampstead Theatre earlier in the year and decided to bring it to Singapore because he enjoyed it so much. "I'm not someone who normally watches romantic comedies, but this appealed because it's clever and witty writing, and (because of ) how layered it is," he says.
