Taking a musical journey of life with Olivia Newton-John
IN a world where everyone is looking for their 15 seconds of fame, it's rare to find someone whose star is still burning bright after five decades of being in the spotlight. But when asked, Olivia Newton-John remains modest about her longevity.
The Cambridge-born singer and actress says, in an email interview: "I'm just thankful I'm still singing and people are still turning up to see me! Even though I've been doing this for over 50 years, I'm having even more fun than when I was younger. I think one of the main things that kept me here so long is that I've been blessed to have wonderful songs by amazing songwriters and producers."
Though Newton-John has had success with movies like Xanadu and songs like Physical, it was the role of Sandy Olsson in Grease that really elevated her career. She says: "I'm so happy that this film brings so much joy to so many people for so many years. I was nervous about doing it because I had done a film that wasn't very good early in my career and I didn't want to jinx my recording career which was doing well."
