Top ballet dancers make S'pore date
CLASSICAL ballet fans have another treat coming up in The Superstars of Ballet, featuring 12 internationally acclaimed principal dancers who will perform highlights from iconic modern and contemporary ballet classics such as Le Corsaire, Don Quixote and Brel.
So if you want another performance of Don Quixote's key scenes, for instance, you can watch Yonah Acosta, principal star dancer from National Ballet of Cuba and the English National Ballet of London. In an e-mail interview about the "superstar" variety show, he said: "It's great to share the stage with friends you haven't seen for a long time and it's good competition."
In a full ballet, the dancers communicate all the emotion of the story in two hours. But with excerpts or key scenes, this group of elite dancers engage in friendly competition as they try to outdance their peers.
