LONDON in the 1960s was the capital of cool, its vibrant cultural scene symbolised by the Mini, the mini-skirt and chart-topping bands such as The Kinks. Over in the city's unfashionable East End, cool met cruel in the form of the Krays, identical twins and mythic gangsters who partied with celebrities, were pals with politicians, and pooled their talents into a business built around extortion and protection rackets.
