Abstract Beauty
With the recent addition of Singapore artist Jeremy Sharma (pictured) to its stable of artists, Sydney gallery Sullivan+Strumpf has been gradually planting its roots in South-east Asia. The new exhibition in its Singapore outpost assembles some of its most talented regional artists including Sharma, Irfan Hendrian, Matthew Allen, Faisal Habibi and Young-Rim Lee for a compelling group show on abstract art. Titled That Was Then, This Is Now, it postulates the progression of abstraction in the modern context. Each artist is displaying a new work that deconstructs the conventional characterisation of abstract art to prove that abstract's potencies are all but exhausted. That Was Then, This Is Now, is now on till June 25 at Sullivan+Strumpf Singapore, Blk 5, Lock Road, Gillman Barracks. Closed on Mondays. Admission is free.
