Arts S.O.S.
As many art establishments remain shut, here's how to still enjoy their art virtually while helping some of them through donations and purchases
1. Checkpoint Theatre
One of the biggest champions of young playwrights, Checkpoint Theatre had to drop two major shows from its 2020 season because of the coronavirus. However, one of them, The Heart Comes To Mind (pictured) by playwright Lucas Ho, has been turned into a poignant radio play directed by Claire Wong. It tells the story of a writer (Julius Foo) and his daughter (Oon Shu An) who are mourning the loss of their wife and mother respectively. As grief morphs into questions about relational failures, both father and daughter have to come to grips with their past mistakes. The Heart Comes To Mind will be presented as an audio experience from June 6 to 12. Visit their website checkpoint-theatre.org for details of all their online offerings. Donate to Checkpoint via https://www.giving.sg/checkpoint-theatre-limited.
