Body and soul
If you'd like to see just one show at the M1 CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival, we suggest Binary - International Artists Showcase. This doublebill of international artists feature Denmark's Kitt Johnson and Japan's Shintaro Oue (pictured).
Drawing rave reviews across the world, Stigma by Johnson is a dark and enigmatic work about the stigma of having a symbol burnt into one's skin to differentiate one from other people. The Village Voice describes the performance as "disturbing transformations powered by inner states ... elegantly, phantasmagorically minimal."
Meanwhile, Dan-su by Oue is both dance and dialogue, as three performers interact and contort their bodies in myriad ways to explore new forms of physical expression.
