Liu Cixin is often hyped as the biggest name in Chinese science fiction. He's won several awards, including China's literary sci-fi prize Galaxy Award nine times as well as the 2015 Hugo Award for The Three-Body Problem, an extraordinary tale of Earth waiting for an invasion by a hostile stellar system. Mark Zuckerbeg, Barack Obama and George RR Martin count themselves as fans of the novel. At the Singapore Writers Festival (SWF), Liu speculates on the future on humanity grappling with the climate crisis, AI and other developments.
