Self-Made Art
Ashidiq Ghazali is a classic autodidact. In the 1990s, he was part of rap duo Construction Sight along with Sheikh Haikel. In the 2000s, he went into advertising and rose to become a sought-after creative director in Singapore and London, working with agencies such as Ogilvy Singapore, BBH London, Grey London and Wieden Kennedy London. He's won numerous awards including the coveted Cannes Lion.
Now he's turning his hand to contemporary art, making works that are inspired by his love of art, advertising practice and music-making - yes, he still deejays now and then. His abstract geometrical paintings can be seen at the new multi-use arts space Telok Ayer Arts Club from now till Nov 14.
Telok Ayer Arts Club is located at 2 McCallum Street. Admission free.
