Step Up
See the best of contemporary and classical dance at the Esplanade's popular annual da:ns festival. This year's highlights include the excellent Nederlands Dans Theatre 1 whose quadruple bill on Oct 13 and 14 includes Shoot The Moon (pictured) by Sol Leon and Paul Lightfoot. Set against Philip Glass' haunting music Tirol Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, the beautiful piece depicts the lives of two couples and a singleton as they fall in and out of love in three separate apartments.
Also worth catching is Singapore choreographer Kuik Swee Boon working with T.H.E. Dance Company on a new piece titled Invisible Habitudes to be staged on Oct 11 and 12. The dance examines the struggle of individuals to locate their identities in a world overwhelmed with too much information and too many choices.
