Ur-ine For A Treat
An utterly outrageous musical satire, the Broadway hit Urinetown scooped the Tony awards for Best Score, Book and Direction In A Musical in 2002. Like the title, the premise seems a little offensive at first. But once you get into it, you'll be laughing your pants off. The story takes place in an oppressive city of the future, where climate change has brought decades of drought and extreme water shortages. As a result, private toilets have been outlawed and one can only relieve oneself in expensive public toilets managed by the evil corporation UGC, short for Urine Good Company. But the people are sick of UGC's monopolistic practices. Before their bladders burst again, they plan a revolution to get free access to toilets. Produced by multiple award-winning theatre company Pangdemonium, Urinetown is directed by Tracie Pang and boasts a big talented cast that includes Adrian Pang, Sean Ghazi and Andrew Marko.
Urinetown plays at the Drama Centre Theatre from Sep 27 to Oct 13. Tickets from Sistic.
