Wearable Art

Fashion designer Phuay Li Ying, better known by her brand Ying The Label, has collaborated with Singaporean artist Aaron Gan on a collection of dresses and capes with timeless silhouettes using luxurious fabrics which feature the artist's paintings.

Despite being a painter herself, Ms Phuay has always wanted to work with established artists like Gan to translate his art beyond the canvas. She believes that working with him can only inspire and take the brand to greater heights.

A total of six paintings, of birds and fish, were used, and each painting was meticulously placed onto simple and tidy shift dresses and capes. The simplicity of the collection is deceiving, as every piece requires special digital manipulation to achieve the desired effect and look.
