World's first cyborg can hear colours
MOST, if not all, of those who are colour-blind live with their condition, but not Neil Harbisson, the world's first legally recognised cyborg who has an implanted antenna to "hear" colours since he can't see them.
Cyborg (short for "cybernetic organism") is the coined term for humans who have restored function or enhanced abilities through biomechatronic body parts.
At a talk held at the ArtScience Museum last week, held in conjunction with the opening of the exhibition Human+: The Future of Our Species, Mr Harbisson, 34, gave a highly entertaining run-through about being a cyborg and how he established the Cyborg Foundation.
