Before the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) closes for a three-year renovation, it is mounting one last show, namely, The President's Young Talents 2018 exhibition. Featuring five of Singapore's best artists under the age of 36, the show champions bold young practitioners who bring new dimensions to contemporary art.

The five artists are Yanyun Chen, Weixin Quek Chong, Debbie Ding, Hilmi Johandi and Zarina Muhammad, all of whom draw from the personal to the political to create distinctive artworks that challenge the viewer's perspectives.

Hilmi, for instance (his works are pictured here), uses sculptures, installations and other media to conjure memories of Singapore's defunct "worlds" - the amusement parks New World, Great World and Gay World, which were once popular with Singaporeans.
