WHEN the year's second major gets under way in a couple of weeks at Oakmont Country Club, Pennsylvania, an Asian Tour quartet will be mixing it up with some of the best players in the world.

Asian Tour No 1 Anirban Lahiri of India, South Korea's K T Kim and Thai duo Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Thongchai Jaidee have earned their places courtesy of being in the top 60 of the Official World Golf Ranking as at May 23. They could very well be joined by Order of Merit leader Marcus Fraser of Australia and Korean duo Soomin Lee and Jeunghun Wang, who are 68th, 69th and 71st respectively, if they break into the top 60 by June 13.

The 26-year-old Kiradech will make his first appearance at the US Open and he has shown he can perform well in the majors after tying for a 15th spot finish in his US Masters debut in April. Kiradech is currently 47th in the world and in March he tied for sixth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, Florida.
