Autobahn Motors lights up for National Day

IT'S A red and white display this National Day for Autobahn Motors (ABM).

The local used car dealership is known for its high-end models housed in a 15-storey building in Bukit Merah - dubbed a "luxury car vending machine" by the company.

In celebration of the nation's 53rd birthday, ABM has arranged 16 red cars on the top eight storeys of the building, and 14 white cars on the bottom seven storeys.

The formation was unveiled in a car-stacking and light-up event on Aug 4.

"We have some really cool cars, such as a rare million-dollar museum piece, the 1936 Mercedes 500K, to the most desirable Ferrari in the '80s, the Ferrari Testarossa," said Gary Hong, co-owner of ABM.

Red and white cars belonging to members of the public also came rolling in to the showroom that day - part of ABM's decision to involve participants in their photo-taking event.

A total of 19 people volunteered their cars.

A video of the special car display posted on ABM's Facebook page four days ago has garnered close to 30,000 views.

Mr Hong said: "Creating this giant matchbox car display is ABM's way of connecting with the public, by promoting engagement as well as creating a visual spectacle for them to enjoy the National Day spirit. By stacking red and white cars, we can display both our national colours as well as give a representation of Singaporean enterprise and innovation."

The display will be on until 8pm on Aug 12.
