I WAS asked recently: "Do you drink every day?" My reply was, "I try to".

A glass or two of red wine, usually from the balance of a bottle or bottles drunk within the previous week at dinner parties (and saved for simple dinners at home). This works very well by the way, even up to a week, if kept well corked and put away in a wine fridge. And incidentally, it is also very good for keeping your cholesterol level at normal levels, better tasting and more enjoyable than drugs!

Now, back to basics. Burgundy is now almost the de rigueur wine to accompany your meals, like bread for breakfast. Can you get too much of it? For some it might not be. However, I found in recent weeks that going back to Bordeaux was like returning to comfort food. You do not have to think about it. For me, it's like going back to the Zion Road hawker centre for my favourite char kway teow.
