Beat goes on for evergreen boyband
BRITNEY Spears might need a backing track to "aid" her in concert but Grasshopper will have none of that. The members of the evergreen Cantopop boyband reveal in an email interview that they rely on strict exercise regimes and diets to keep themselves in shape so they can still wow fans in their typically high-energy shows three decades in.
Known for their flamboyant costumes and showmanship, Grasshopper's "live" performances are non-stop two-hour-plus song-and-dance spectacles. The trio returns to Singapore next Saturday for a concert named after the band's latest Mandarin album, Music Walker (2016).
Comprising brothers Remus and Calvin Choy, plus their friend Edmond So, they were talent-spotted by the late "Queen of Cantopop" Anita Mui after their slick choreography attracted her attention during an audition for the Hong Kong New Talent Singing Awards in 1985.
