Becoming a tourist in my own country

How can we entice Singaporeans to look inwards at our own country as a holiday location, even after it is safe to travel?

I AM sipping my coffee, pretending that the edifice known as Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is not in my line of sight, and that I am at some faraway waterfront other than Singapore's.

I wonder if these "delusions" are the manifestation of cabin fever - in my own country.

Going by my experience in the past few days - the start of my staycation at MBS earlier involved much jostling with the crowd - I suppose many others are suffering from the same affliction as I am. The pandemic has forced us to be tourists in our own country. Staycations are all the rage. And in the absence of what we might excuse as "holiday expenses", we seem to have also acquired a predilection for the finer things in life - queues for luxury items are seen to be longer, and car showrooms are more packed.
